Press Release Feb. 6, 2006
It is a pleasure to announce the appointment of Robert (Bob) C. Smigelski as Business Development Director at Sensor Development Corporation (SDC). Bob comes to SDC after a 31 year association with The Andersons, Inc., where his most recent accountability was Operations Manager of the Agriculture Group.
Bob is a member of several important industry organizations including National Grain and Feed Association, where he is on the Board of Directors and Chair of the Grades and Weights Committee; National Grain Quality Workshop, Chair of Feed Grains Subgroup, Chair Elect Steering Committee; Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS), Chair Educational Programming Committee, Past President and Board Chair of the Seaway Chapter; and NC-213, where he is an advisory board member.
Bob will be responsible for introducing SDC’s new aflatoxin mold sensor to the agricultural industry. The sensor detects the mold that is responsible for producing aflatoxin. Aflatoxin is the most carcinogenic naturally occurring compound known and is closely monitored in the food supply. Aflatoxin is one of only 19 contaminants including mercury and DDT for which the USDA imposes strict tolerance levels in food. Sensor Development Corporation designs, develops and manufactures high sensitivity devices for detecting mold that produces aflatoxin. This device provides real-time monitoring for early recognition of molds allowing action to be taken to prevent the spread of the mold.
